Celebrate the Plant Pool 10th Anniversary by walking your way to fitness.
Health experts recommend walking 10,000 steps every day for optimum heart health, but how far is 10,000 steps and how long does it take to walk that distance? Put on your walking shoes, grab a water bottle, invite a friend, and we will show you.
Our multigenerational neighbourhood walk celebrates a decade of accessible, community-focused recreation by encouraging you to have fun and get moving.
Registration will open at 11:30 am (or online in early May).
The official opening kicks off at noon with greetings from federal, provincial and municipal officials. A group warm-up following the opening will get walkers ready to go.
For each 1000 steps walked, participants get a raffle ticket; the more you walk, the better your chances of winning a great prize.
After the walk, participants are invited to enjoy a picnic of healthy snacks and to watch a variety of fitness and recreation demonstrations. And the cost for all this? Absolutely nothing but a smile and some energy!
The 10,000-Step Challenge is organized by the Plant Pool Recreation Association in conjunction with our community partners including the Hintonburg Recreation Association, Somerset West Community Health Centre, the Plant Recreation Centre, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
