Celebrate National Health and Fitness Day!

Members of Parliament are reaching across party lines this spring to establish the first Saturday in June as National Health and Fitness Day. Show your support for this great initiative by taking the 10,000 Steps Challenge on Saturday, June 7 at the Plant Recreation Centre, Somerset West and Preston.

Challenge yourself and mentor a friend to walk the 10,000 steps health experts recommend as a daily exercise to promote cardiovascular fitness. At the same time, discover the interest and diversity our historic neighbourhoods offer.  Free registration opens at 12 noon, followed by a group warm up at 12:30. The first walkers will grab a passport, fill their water bottles and hit the sidewalks at 1 pm.

The Challenge is brought to you by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Hintonburg Recreation Association, Plant Pool Recreation Association, Plant Recreation Centre and Somerset West Community Health Centre.
