Plant Recreation Centre

What is the Plant Recreation Centre?

The Plant Recreation Centre (historically known as the Plant Bath) is located at the corner of Preston and Somerset Streets in West Centretown, Ottawa. It was opened in May 1924 as one of Ottawa’s first public swimming baths.

After being closed for several years, a long struggle by PPRA and friends of the Plant Bath led to both the building and greenspace surrounding it (Plouffe Park) being saved and rejuvenated.

We have the original members of the PPRA, our vibrant community, and many past and present city politicians/officials to thank for what is today the Plant Recreation Centre.
