Get a head start on summer with the “Plant Sale for the Plant Bath.” The Plant Pool Recreation Association will hold its fourth annual sale of perennial plants, shrubs, vines and vegetable seedlings on Saturday, May 14, 8:30 to 11:00 am at the Plant Recreation Centre, 930 Somerset at Preston. We offer hardy stock at competitive prices. Come early for best selection. Proceeds support community recreation programs. http://www.plantpool.org

Plant Sale Update

Thank You!

Thanks to enthusiastic volunteers and eager buyers, the PPRA completed its best plant sale ever on May 9, netting close to $950. Since so many Centretown gardens are shady, this year we featured shade tolerant plants as well as shrubs and vines and veggies.  The few plants that didn’t sell were donated to the gardens at Plant Recreation Centre, the Cambridge School Council and the Dalhousie Guerilla Gardeners, headed by Eric Darwin. We are already planning for next year’s, likely to be on May 8.

PLANT SALE FOR THE PLANT BATH

On May 9, 2015 the PPRA will hold its third annual plant sale from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Plant Recreation Centre, Somerset West at Preston.
A walk around Dalhousie in the spring and summer shows that more and more residents of our neighbourhood are taking up gardening, perhaps with a pot on a balcony, containers on a patio, or full blown flower and vegetable plots. Gardening is an easy, accessible, relatively inexpensive way to enjoy outdoor recreation.
Our PPRA sale features competitively-priced perennial plants; that is plants that grow year after year. All our plants come from healthy existing stock, and we offer a selection suitable for full sun to full shade growing conditions. A small selection of house plants will also be on sale, plus books on gardening. Profits from the plant sale help support the PPRA’s programs, including the 10,000-Step Challenge, kids’ swimming vouchers, and the Plouffe Park summer camp.
