Newswest donated $1500 to the PPRA in recognition of the good work we do in our community. The donation will be used to hire local youth to run the PPRA 2021 free Summer Sports Programme.
Newswest was founded forty-one years ago to bring community news to the Hintonburg/Mechanicsville/Westboro communities. It published its last edition in December 2018. Before formally dissolving, the Board decided to disburse its surplus funds amongst organizations serving the community that are in keeping with its philosophy and values.

Interested in making a donation?
There are two ways you can donate:
- By cheque – payable to the Plant Pool Recreation Association and mail it to: PPRA, 930 Somerset St. W. Ottawa, ON, K1R 6R9. Please provide us with your full address so that a tax receipt can be mailed to you.
- Through the United Way. Charitable registration no: 88650 7524 RR0001
As the PPRA is a volunteer organization of community members and interested individuals, 100% of your donation goes directly to support the programs you care about.
Your donation will help us to:
- advocate for improved and increased green space and recreation opportunities for the community
- operate the winter rink in Plouffe Park in cooperation with the city of Ottawa
- support other communities across the city in their efforts to increase green space and recreation opportunities.
